Physisporinus vitreus
(Pers.) P.Karst.

Study description
On decaying dead wood on the ground of both broadleaved and coniferous trees, with completely resupinate basidiomata, white, unchanging when bruised, with a poroid surface bearing circular to angular pores (4 to 6 per mm), tubes 2 to 4 mm deep, and a sharply delimited margin.
Hyphal system monomitic; hyphae hyaline, thin- to moderately thick-walled, 4 to 7 µm wide, septate with simple septa (lacking clamp connections).
Cystidia absent, but according to literature scattered thick-walled cylindrical cystidioles with faint apical encrustations may occasionally occur.
Basidia clavate, 15 to 20 µm long, 6 to 8 µm wide, simple-septate at the base, 4-spored.
Spores globose to subglobose, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 4.5 to 6.5 µm long, 4 to 6 µm wide, with an inconspicuous apiculus at one end, containing oil droplets of varying sizes, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
