Phyllotopsis nidulans
(Pers.) Singer

Study description
On decaying dead wood on the ground, occurring on both broadleaved trees and conifers, pleurotoid in habit, with an undulating semicircular or flabelliform pileus 3 to 7 cm across, hirsute/strigose ochraceous-brown surface, bright orange lamellae radiating from the attachment point, lacking a distinct stipe, with an unpleasant, cabbage-like odour and mild yet disagreeable taste.
Pileipellis composed of interwoven hyphae 2.5 to 5 µm wide, hyaline or with brownish intracellular pigment, with thick-walled hyphae aggregated into fascicles forming the hirsute hairs, septate with clamp connections.
Cystidia and other sterile hymenial elements absent.
Basidia cylindrical-clavate, 20 to 30 µm long, 3 to 4.5 µm wide, clamped at the base, predominantly 4-spored.
Spores cylindrical to allantoid, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 6 to 7 µm long, 2 to 3 µm wide, containing small oil droplets, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
