Study description
A tropical species occurring on decaying dead wood on the ground, with resupinate to effused-reflexed fruitbodies, concentrically zonate pileus ranging from brown to violaceous with a velvety texture, and a smooth to slightly rugose, purplish-brown hymenium that turns instantly black in KOH.
Hyphal system monomitic; subicular hyphae arranged more or less parallel to slightly interwoven, moderately thick-walled, 3 to 5 µm wide, containing brownish intracellular pigment, simple-septate (clampless).
Lamprocystidia very thick-walled, 50 to 90 µm long, 9 to 15 µm wide, with a dense mass of coarse hyaline crystals covering the upper two-thirds.
Basidia subclavate, 35 to 45 µm long, 8 to 12 µm wide, simple-septate at the base, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal to oblong, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 6 to 7.5 µm long, 3 to 4 µm wide, with a slightly pointed apicular end, containing oil guttules, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
