Wahlenb. ex Fr.

Study description
Saprophytic species on plant debris or wood, with cup-shaped apothecia 5 to 10 cm in diameter, yellowish-brown, with a slightly paler, furfuraceous external surface.
Medullary excipulum of textura globulosa-angularis, composed of large globose hyaline hyphae intermixed with some connecting filamentous hyphae, the latter present only at the base of the asci.
Ectal excipulum poorly or not differentiated from the medullary excipulum, with globose terminal hyphae on the outer surface measuring up to 20 µm.
Asci cylindrical, 8-spored, operculate, 230 to 290 µm long, 13 to 17 µm wide, uniseriate, with an amyloid apical reaction in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses filiform, septate, 3 to 5 µm wide, with apical inflations reaching 5 to 9 µm wide, containing slight intracellular pigment that becomes more conspicuous in Melzer's reagent.
Ascospores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, exhibiting an optical double-wall effect under the microscope, 14.5 to 17.5 µm long, 8 to 10 µm wide, and homogeneous inside without guttules or vacuoles.
