Study description
On decaying oak wood on the ground, with typically resupinate basidiocarps up to 15 cm long by 6 cm wide, up to 5 mm thick, greyish-brown, with 3 to 4 round to slightly angular pores per mm, and tubes arranged in several stratified layers totaling 10 to 15 mm in thickness.
Hyphal system dimitic: skeletal hyphae thick-walled, profusely branched, arboriform, aseptate, 2.5 to 3.5 µm wide; generative hyphae hyaline, 2 to 3.2 µm wide, septate with clamp connections.
Differentiated cystidia absent, though according to literature scattered fusiform to clavate cystidioles similar in size to basidia may occasionally occur.
Basidia clavate, 14 to 20 µm long, 6 to 8.5 µm wide, clamped at the base, 4-spored.
Spores ovoid to ellipsoidal with a truncate apex, smooth, hyaline, thick-walled, 6 to 7.5 µm long, 4.5 to 6 µm wide, with a small central apiculus at one pole and the opposite pole truncate, containing one or more oil droplets inside, dextrinoid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2430/25.
