Panellus stipticus
(Bull.) P.Karst.

Study description
Saprophytic species on decaying dead wood of broadleaved trees, especially Fagus, with a shell- or fan-shaped (flabelliform) pileus 1.5 to 3.5 cm across, yellowish-brown, faintly concentrically zonate, with broad, decurrent, anastomosing lamellae, and a lateral cylindrical stipe slightly widened at the base, brownish-ochre.
Pileipellis composed of interwoven cylindrical hyphae, thin- to slightly thick-walled, 2 to 6 µm wide, branched, septate with clamp connections.
Stipe surface bearing terminal hyphae acting as caulocystidia, nodulose and branched, displaying an arboriform to coralloid appearance.
Cheilocystidia numerous, clavate to fusiform, 50 to 85 µm long, 5 to 8 µm wide, with a slightly pointed apex.
Lamellar trama regular.
Basidia cylindrical-clavate, 20 to 25 µm long, 3.5 to 5 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 4.5 to 6.5 µm long, 2.5 to 3.4 µm wide, strongly amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
