Pachnocybe albida
(Fr.) Berk.

Study description
A minute lignicolous fungus, saprophytic on decaying decorticated wood, with basidiomata appearing as tiny, whitish, irregular grains only 0.2 to 0.3 mm in diameter, fruiting scattered yet en masse across the substrate.
Synnemata formed by compact bundles of hyphae arranged in parallel to slightly interwoven, up to 0.4 mm high and 50 to 90 µm wide.
Stalk/axis of the synnema composed of hyphae 2 to 3 µm wide, containing reddish-brown intracellular pigment, tightly compacted in a parallel to interwoven fascicle, expanding at the apex into a divergent, plumose head.
Conidiogenous hyphae at the apex of the conidiophores hyaline, cylindrical to slightly tapered, 2 to 3 µm wide, producing conidia at their tips.
Conidia subglobose to ellipsoidal, thick- and smooth-walled, hyaline or with faint greyish intracellular pigment, 16 to 22 µm long, 13 to 16.5 µm wide, with very faint granular content inside.
