Study description
Apothecia gregarious to caespitose, hare's-ear-shaped, 1.5–8 cm wide by 2.5–10 cm high, ochraceous-yellow to pale orange with pinkish flushes, flesh brittle and fragile, with abundant basal tomentum and mycelial strands.
Medullary excipulum of textura intricata, with filamentous, hyaline, thick-walled hyphae 6–12 µm wide.
Ectal excipulum of thin-walled textura angularis with yellowish intracellular pigment, cells measuring 15–50 µm long by 10–28 µm wide; outer surface with short hyphoid hairs 80–100 µm long composed of 2 to 3 subglobose to cylindrical cells constricted at the septa, 10–14 µm wide.
Asci cylindrical, 8-spored, operculate, measuring 140–230 µm long by 10–12 µm wide, with uniseriate to slightly obliquely overlapping spore arrangement, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses filiform, apically curved and only slightly widened (2.5–4.5 µm wide), containing small, refractive pale yellow guttules inside, projecting slightly above the asci.
Ascospores ellipsoidal, inequilateral, smooth- and thick-walled, hyaline, measuring 12–14 µm long by 6.5–7.5 µm wide, containing two large oil guttules inside.
