Oncopodiella trigonella
(Sacc.) Rifai

Study description
Species occurring on dead organic matter such as submerged wood or in very wet habitats near freshwater streams and rivers, forming colonies of very dark brown (almost black) colour (formerly known as Sporidesmium trigonellum).
Conidiophores sparse, smooth-walled, septate with simple septa, 2–4 µm wide, hyaline or containing pale brown intracellular pigment.
Conidiogenous cells not clearly differentiated from the conidiophores.
Conidia subglobose to ovoid, muriform, smooth-walled, dark brown internally with darker transverse and longitudinal septa, bearing 2 to 4 (usually 3) hyaline to weakly pigmented horn-like projections extending considerably beyond the spore outline; total conidial dimensions including projections are 12–18 µm long by 10–15 µm wide.
