(Batsch) Murrill

Study description
Species very similar to Omphalina pyxidata, with an umbilicate pileus 1–2.5 cm across, dark reddish-brown, deeply decurrent pale brown lamellae, without perceptible odour, and a mild, sweet taste.
Cuticle (pileipellis) formed by filamentous hyphae arranged more or less parallel, 4–9 µm wide, containing brown intracellular pigment, septate and with clamp connections at the septa.
Lamellar edge fertile, without differentiated sterile elements other than basidia and basidioles.
Lamellar trama regular.
Basidia cylindrical-clavate, 25–30 µm long by 4–6 µm wide, with basal clamps, 2- or 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal to amygdaliform, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with an eccentric pointed end where the apiculus is located, measuring 7–8.5 µm long by 4–5 µm wide, containing small oil guttules inside, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
