Oligoporus rennyi
(Berk. & Broome) Donk

Study description
Formerly classified as Postia rennyi, on decaying dead wood of conifers, with completely resupinate basidiomes, white to yellowish cream, cottony in appearance at first, forming round pores with development; soft and gelatinous in texture when fresh, becoming fragile and powdery when dry due to the massive production of chlamydospores.
This study corresponds to the anamorph (asexual stage of the species), with chlamydospores only.
Hyphal system monomitic, with structural hyphae cylindrical, smooth, hyaline, thin- to slightly thick-walled, 4 to 6 µm wide, branched, septate and with clamp connections.
Chlamydospores ellipsoidal, smooth, thick-walled, with a slightly truncate end, 5 to 8 µm long, 3.5 to 5 µm wide, with faint fine granular content inside, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2801/26.
