(Fuckel) S.K.Huang & K.D.Hyde

Study description
On cattle dung, until recently known as Schizothecium aloides, with pyriform blackish perithecia 0.8 to 1 mm high and 0.5 to 0.6 mm wide, with a neck at the top surrounded by characteristic agglutinated hairs.
Perithecial wall hyphae of textura angularis, 15 to 25 µm in diameter, slightly thick-walled with faint greyish pigment inside.
Agglutinated hairs at the base of the neck thick-walled, swollen, brownish, 240 to 320 µm long and up to 50 µm wide at the base.
Asci clavate, eight-spored, 310 to 330 µm long, 90 to 110 µm wide, with biseriate spore arrangement inside the ascus, long-stalked, lacking a visible apical apparatus, and inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Ascospores ellipsoidal with slightly pointed ends, initially hyaline within the ascus, acquiring a dark brown color at maturity, measuring 30 to 35 µm long (excluding appendages) and 15 to 19 µm wide, with a hyaline pedicel 12 to 17 µm long and 2 to 4 µm wide.
