Study description
On decaying wood on the ground (most likely Crataegus monogyna based on locality), with cupulate apothecia up to 2 mm in diameter, yellowish-ochre to light brown hymenium, and a tomentose, inrolled outer margin covered with brown hairs.
Marginal hairs cylindrical, moderately thick-walled, with abundant resinous encrustations on their surface, containing ochraceous-brown intracellular pigment, 50–100 µm long, with rounded apices.
Medullary excipulum of textura intricata with densely interwoven hyaline hyphae, and ectal excipulum of textura globulosa-angularis with cells 14–20 µm in diameter.
Asci cylindrical to slightly clavate, 8-spored, with spore arrangement uniseriate to biseriate above, measuring 40–60 µm long by 4–5.5 µm wide, with an amyloid apical ring in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses filiform, smooth, hyaline, septate, 1.5–2 µm wide, branched at the base, with slightly lanceolate apices projecting slightly above the asci.
Ascospores cylindrical-ellipsoidal to fusiform, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, measuring 5–8.5 µm long by 1.8–3.2 µm wide, with homogeneous contents, without guttules or vacuoles inside.
