Nemania confluens
(Tode) Laessøe & Spooner

Study description
On a wide variety of substrates, with uniperitheciate stromata frequently coalescing in slender lines or small clusters of up to 10 specimens, perithecia subglobose, 0.6–1 mm in diameter, black, with a small apical papilla.
Asci cylindrical, short-stipitate, 8-spored, with spores arranged uniseriately occupying more than three quarters of the total ascus length, measuring 130–165 µm long by 10–12 µm wide, with an inverted hat-shaped amyloid apical apparatus 3–4.5 µm wide by 2.5–3 µm high.
Paraphyses abundant, hyaline, filiform, branched from the base, forming a dense mass projecting considerably above the asci.
Ascospores ellipsoidal to fusiform, nearly equilateral, with slightly pointed ends, dark brown, measuring 14–18 µm long by 7.5–9 µm wide, with a straight to very slightly sigmoid germ slit running nearly the full length of the spore.
