Study description
On undetermined wood in riparian woodland (probably Alnus), with elongated stromata, often coalescent, with a blackish surface. Perithecia spherical to ovoid, 0.3–0.5 mm in diameter, with papillate apical ostioles darker than the surrounding surface.
Asci cylindrical, long-stipitate, 8-spored, with spores arranged uniseriately (in a single file) to slightly overlapping; spore-bearing part 80–100 µm long by 7–8 µm wide, stipe up to 70 µm long, apical apparatus amyloid, measuring 3.3–4.1 µm high by 2.5–2.8 µm wide.
Paraphyses abundant, hyaline, filiform, branched from the base, forming a dense mass projecting above the asci.
Ascospores ellipsoidal to fusiform, inequilateral, brown under the microscope, measuring 14–18 µm long by 5.5–7.3 µm wide, with an inconspicuous short germ slit up to 7 µm long on the convex side.
