Navisporus floccosus
(Bres.) Ryvarden

Study description
A tropical or subtropical species with pileate basidiocarps up to 35 cm across and 7–8 cm thick, pale brown with a white margin, 2–3 pores per mm, round to slightly angular, darkening upon handling, and bearing large navicular spores that give the genus its name.
Dimitic hyphal system, with skeletal hyphae predominant in the context, hyaline, thick-walled, 3–6 µm wide, and generative hyphae with thin to slightly thickened walls, hyaline, 2–4 µm wide, septate, with clamp connections at the septa.
Cystidia or other sterile hymenial elements absent.
Basidia cylindrical-clavate, 30–35 µm long by 6–8 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores large, navicular (boat-shaped), smooth- and moderately thick-walled, hyaline, measuring 11–14.5 µm long by 6.5–8 µm wide, with a pointed end where the apiculus is located, containing oil droplets of varying size inside, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2353/24.
