Study description
A species originally described from Taiwan and South Korea with very few global records (in the Caribbean known only from the Virgin Islands; this study likely represents the first record for the Dominican Republic), with resupinate basidiomes, creamy-brown, with a whitish growing margin tinted with greenish hues, spines 1–3 mm long, without a continuous subiculum.
Dimitic hyphal system, with thick-walled skeletal hyphae 3–4 µm wide containing faint ochraceous intracellular pigment, and thin-walled, hyaline generative hyphae 2.4–3.5 µm wide, septate and—as the specific epithet denotes—with simple septa lacking clamp connections.
Clearly differentiated cystidia absent, though literature notes cystidioles of similar size to basidia.
Basidia clavate, 15–18 µm long by 4–5 µm wide, simple-based, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal to subcylindrical, with a pointed end where the apiculus is located, measuring 4–6 µm long by 2.5–3 µm wide, mostly with a prominent central oil droplet inside, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2053/24.
