Mycenella salicina
(Velen.) Singer

Study description
Terrestrial species, saprophytic on organic matter such as leaves or decaying buried wood, with a convex to flattened pileus 0.5–1.5 cm across, dark reddish-brown with a whitish margin, ventricose, adnate to emarginate grey lamellae, and a cylindrical, very fragile stipe, brown and darker towards the base.
Cuticle (pileipellis) formed by cylindrical hyphae 2–3 µm wide arranged more or less parallel, with emergent cylindrical to lageniform pileocystidia measuring 50–60 µm long by 12–14 µm wide.
Caulocystidia abundant, cylindrical to lageniform with a widened base, measuring 50–120 µm long by 5–10 µm wide.
Cheilocystidia and pleurocystidia lageniform, slightly thick-walled, measuring 50–80 µm long by 10–16 µm wide, with a long neck 3–7 µm wide.
Basidia clavate, 25–35 µm long by 4–7 µm wide, with basal clamps, mostly 4-spored, with occasional 2-spored basidia.
Spores globose to subglobose with a prominent apiculus, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, measuring 4.5–6 µm long by 4–5 µm wide, with one or several oil guttules inside, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
