Mycena zephirus
(Fr.) P.Kumm.

Study description
Species associated with conifers or mixed woods, with a conical to flattened pileus usually retaining a central umbo, 2–4.5 cm across, becoming stained with brownish spots with age, adnate lamellae, a cylindrical, hollow greyish-brown stipe with whitish fibrils at the base, a raphanoid odour, and a slightly bitter taste.
Cuticle (pileipellis) formed by an outer layer of parallel hyphae 2–9 µm wide, mostly smooth, some with scattered simple excrescences up to 10 µm long, underlain by broader hyaline hyphae, septate and clamped.
Stipe hyphae 2–5 µm wide, smooth or with simple excrescences up to 10 µm long by 1.5–2 µm wide.
Cheilocystidia subcylindrical to fusiform, some with a long, slender neck, measuring 45–75 µm long by 8–20 µm wide.
Pleurocystidia not observed.
Basidia clavate, 28–35 µm long by 7–9 µm wide, with basal clamps, 2- or 4-spored.
Spores cylindrical, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with a slightly pointed lateral end where the apiculus is located, measuring 9–12.5 µm long by 4–5.5 µm wide, containing oil droplets inside, amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
