Mycena rubromarginata
(Fr.) P.Kumm.

Study description
Species typical of decaying wood, preferably of conifers, with a hemispherical to conical-convex pileus 1–3 cm across, dark brown with vinaceous tints and a whitish margin, white adnate lamellae with a reddish-brown to purple edge, a cylindrical, hollow stipe coloured like the pileus with a paler apex, without any appreciable odour, and an insipid taste.
Cuticle (pileipellis) formed by densely interwoven hyphae 3–7 µm wide, the outermost widely separated by gelification, with numerous simple excrescences up to 20 µm long by 2–3.5 µm wide.
Hyphae of the outer layer of the stipe 2–4 µm wide, with scattered coarse excrescences, septate and clamped.
Cheilocystidia fusiform, clavate to lageniform with a long, sinuous neck, measuring 35–50 µm long by 7–12 µm wide, containing abundant reddish-brown pigment.
Pleurocystidia absent.
Basidia subcylindrical to clavate, 25–35 µm long by 7–10 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal to oblong, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, measuring 8.5–11 µm long by 5.5–7 µm wide, with an inconspicuous apiculus at one end, containing small oil droplets inside, markedly amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
