(Murrill) Murrill

Study description
Species developing on decaying wood of broadleaf trees, with a convex to conical-applanate pileus 1.5–5 cm across, pale greyish-brown, adnate lamellae, a curved, cylindrical stipe that is white, becoming pale greyish-brown at the base, with a weakly nitrous odour and farinaceous taste.
Hyphae of the cuticle (pileipellis) filamentous, with a superficial layer 2–5 µm wide arranged more or less parallel, underlain by a thick layer of broader hyaline hyphae.
Stipe hyphae hyaline, 3–4.5 µm wide, with cylindrical to fusiform terminal caulocystidioid elements.
Cheilocystidia and pleurocystidia fusiform, lageniform to clavate, some with a narrow neck, measuring 45–100 µm long by 10–22 µm wide.
Basidia cylindrical-clavate, 30–35 µm long by 7–9 µm wide, 2- or 4-spored.
Spores cylindrical-ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with a more pointed end where the apiculus is located, measuring 9.5–11 µm long by 6–7.5 µm wide, containing abundant small guttules inside, amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
