Mycena galericulata
(Scop.) Gray

Study description
Lignicolous species found on both coniferous and deciduous wood, with a conical to flattened pileus retaining a prominent umbo, 2–7 cm across, pale brown with a whitish margin, adnate lamellae, a cylindrical, hollow stipe slightly widened at the base, dark brown with a whitish apex, and a farinaceous odour and taste.
Cuticle (pileipellis) formed by parallel hyphae 2–4 µm wide, with abundant, dense diverticula up to 8 µm long by 1–1.5 µm wide.
Hyphae of the cortical layer of the stipe 2–3 µm wide, with scattered excrescences up to 5 µm long, septate with simple septa (non-clamped).
Cheilocystidia abundant, clavate to irregular, measuring 20–35 µm long by 7–12 µm wide, with abundant simple to branched apical digitations up to 20 µm long by 1–2 µm wide.
Basidia cylindrical-clavate, 30–35 µm long by 7–8 µm wide, simple-based (clampless), 2-spored.
Spores ovoid to ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with a lateral apiculus at one end, measuring 9–11.5 µm long by 6–7 µm wide, containing oil droplets inside, amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
