Mycena clavicularis
(Fr.) Gillet

Study description
Species typical of conifers, especially pines, fruiting among needles on the ground, with a convex to flattened pileus bearing a central depression, 8–15 mm across, pale sepia-brown, darker in the centre, adnate to slightly decurrent lamellae, and a cylindrical, hollow stipe, yellowish-brown and paler at the apex.
Cuticle (pileipellis) formed by a superficial layer of cylindrical hyphae 3–5 µm wide, densely covered with simple or branched diverticula, underlain by broader, septate and clamped hyphae.
Cheilocystidia very abundant, clavate, measuring 15–35 µm long by 7–12 µm wide, densely covered with cylindrical excrescences up to 10 µm long by 1–1.5 µm wide.
Pleurocystidia scattered, identical in morphology and dimensions to cheilocystidia.
Basidia cylindrical-clavate, 22–30 µm long by 6–8 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal to amygdaliform, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with a pointed end where the apiculus is located, measuring 6–9.5 µm long by 3.8–5 µm wide, with one or several oil droplets inside, amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
