Study description
An uncommon species associated with Juniperus, under creeping juniper (Juniperus horizontalis), fruiting on decaying needles on the ground, with a conical pileus 6–12 mm across, pale yellow with greenish or olivaceous tints, margin paler, and a cylindrical stipe with a whitish apex and brownish-grey below.
Special thanks to Manuel Villarreal for accompanying me to the collection site and assisting with specimen sampling.
Cuticle (pileipellis) with superficial hyphae arranged more or less parallel, 2.5–3.5 µm wide, densely covered with simple or bifurcated excrescences 2–4 µm tall, underlain by broader hyphae with simple septa.
Cheilocystidia very abundant, rendering the lamellar edge practically sterile, measuring 18–40 µm long by 7–17 µm wide, covered with irregular excrescences up to 10 µm long by 1–2 µm wide.
Pleurocystidia absent.
Basidia clavate, 30–35 µm long by 7–8 µm wide, predominantly 2-spored, with occasional 1-spored basidia.
Spores amygdaliform, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with a pointed, slightly curved end where the apiculus is located, measuring 8.5–12.5 µm long by 6.5–9 µm wide, containing fine oil granules inside, amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2611/25.
