Mycena cinerella
(P.Karst.) P.Karst.

Study description
Species found growing among moss on decaying pine needles, with a pileus just over 1.5 cm across, convex to nearly flattened with a depressed centre, greyish-brown, decurrent lamellae, a hollow light greyish-brown stipe darker towards the base, and a farinaceous odour.
Cuticle (pileipellis) with a superficial layer of parallel hyphae 2–5 µm wide, bearing very abundant simple to heavily branched coralloid excrescences 2–18 µm long by 1–2 µm wide, forming dense masses, underlain by much broader hyaline cylindrical hyphae up to 20 µm wide.
Hyphae of the cortical layer of the stipe with excrescences up to 9 µm long.
Cheilocystidia cylindrical to clavate, measuring 16–30 µm long by 6–12 µm wide, with finger-like digitations up to 13 µm long by 1–2 µm wide.
Pleurocystidia absent.
Basidia clavate, 22–30 µm long by 7–9 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with a pointed end where the apiculus is located, measuring 8–11.5 µm long by 3.5–5 µm wide, with small guttules inside, amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
