Mycena capillaripes
Peck

Study description
A Mycena typical of coniferous forests, with a conical-campanulate pileus up to just over 2 cm across, a reddish lamellar edge, a cylindrical, hollow, glabrous stipe that is only slightly pruinose at the apex, greyish-brown and darker towards the base, with a nitrous odour.
Filamentous cuticle (pileipellis), with cylindrical hyphae 2–7 µm wide, bearing abundant simple or branched diverticula 1–3 µm wide, septate and clamped.
Cheilocystidia fusiform to clavate, measuring 45–60 µm long by 12–16 µm wide, with reddish pigment content inside.
Pleurocystidia similar in morphology to cheilocystidia but lacking pigment (hyaline), measuring 45–85 µm long by 13–25 µm wide.
Basidia cylindrical to clavate, 25–35 µm long by 6–8 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, measuring 7–10 µm long by 4–5.5 µm wide, with a slightly eccentric apiculus at one end, abundant oil guttules inside, distinctly amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
