Multiclavula mucida
(Pers.) R.H.Petersen

Study description
On very damp rotten wood saturated with green algae (lichenised basidiomycete), with cylindrical fruiting bodies tapering to a pointed apex, 4–15 mm in length, whitish to ochraceous, darkening with maturity, generally simple and scattered or in small clusters of a few specimens.
Monomitic hyphal system, with cylindrical, hyaline, thin- to slightly thick-walled hyphae 2–7 µm wide, arranged more or less parallel, often with slight swellings, septate and clamped.
Cystidia absent.
Basidia cylindrical-clavate, rather short, 16–20 µm long by 3.5–5 µm wide, with basal clamps, generally 4-spored, with some isolated basidia bearing 6 sterigmata.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 5.5–6.5 µm long according to literature (somewhat shorter in this study, likely due to immature spores obtained by scraping), 2.7–3.3 µm wide, with one or several oil droplets inside, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2041/24.
