Morchella purpurascens
(Krombh. ex Boud.) Jacquet.

Study description
General: Vernal species associated with conifers, with an elongated conical pileus, thick ribs that turn pinkish to purple, irregular pits, and a pale cream stipe slightly enlarged at the base.
Asci: Cylindrical, 8-spored, operculate, uniseriate, 275-320 x 16-22 µm, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses: Very scarce, cylindrical, apical width up to 12 µm.
Sterile ridge elements: Very abundant along the sterile edges of the ribs, clavate, hyaline, 30-45 µm wide.
Ascospores: Ellipsoid, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 18-27 x 13-17 µm, mature spores homogeneous internally without oil guttules or vacuoles.
Herbarium voucher: JTP2482/25.
