Study description
General: Apothecia sessile, discoid to cupulate, 0.5-1.5 mm diam., grey with faint bluish tints, margin slightly darker, scattered on decorticated wood of Pinus mugo.
Marginal hairs: Cylindrical, arranged in parallel rows, septate, 3-4 µm wide, hyaline or containing pale brown intracellular pigment, apices rounded.
Excipulum: Ectal excipulum of textura globoso-angularis, cells moderately thick-walled, 10-20 µm in diameter, with brown intracellular pigment.
Asci: Cylindric-clavate, 8-spored, 70-95 x 7-10 µm, spores biseriate above and uniseriate below, with basal croziers, apical pore amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses: Simple, filiform, septate, 2-3.5 µm wide, with refractive vacuolar contents.
Ascospores: Cylindrical to slightly fusiform, unicellular, flattened on one side, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 7.5-13.5 x 2.6-3.4 µm, contents homogeneous without guttules.
