(Cooke) Svrček

Study description
General: Aquatic or semiaquatic discomycete developing on submerged decorticated wood subject to river inundation, apothecia discoid, sessile, intense orange, 2-5 mm diam., with a well-delimited margin.
Excipulum: Poorly differentiated into medullary and ectal layers: a few subhymenial filamentous hyphae 4-7 µm wide overlying a thick layer of globose cells (textura globulosa) 15-20 µm in diameter.
Asci: Cylindrical, 8-spored, operculate, 270-310 x 10-14 µm, uniseriate, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses: Filiform, septate, branched, 2.5-3.5 µm wide, apices swollen up to 5 µm, filled with orange carotenoid granules.
Ascospores: Ellipsoid, moderately thick-walled, finely verruculose, 20-26 x 10-13 µm, filled with abundant minute guttules.
