Merismodes fasciculata
(Schwein.) Donk

Study description
On decaying hardwood on the ground, with sessile cup-shaped fruiting bodies (cyphelloid) 0.3–0.5 mm in diameter, inner surface cream-coloured, margin covered with dense light brown hairs, forming dense caespitose clusters on wood.
Monomitic hyphal system, with slender subhymenial hyphae 2–4 µm wide, septate and with clamp connections at the septa.
External marginal hairs thick-walled, brown, more hyaline at the apex, up to 150 µm long by 2–4 µm wide, covered with encrustations in the upper part, with some sinuous ends having a swollen, hyaline apex.
Cystidia absent.
Basidia cylindrical-clavate, 30–40 µm long by 6–7 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores cylindrical to slightly allantoid, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, measuring 7.5–11 µm long by 2.5–3.5 µm wide, with a slightly pointed end where the apiculus is located, with faint contents of small oil droplets inside, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
