Menispora glauca
(Link) Pers.

Study description
General: This study corresponds to the teleomorphic (sexual) state, Chaetosphaeria ovoidea, producing minute black globose perithecia 0.15-0.25 mm in diameter, fruiting on decaying decorticated fallen wood.
Perithecia: Surface slightly verrucose, with an apical papilla.
Asci: Cylindrical to slightly fusiform, unitunicate, 8-spored, spores biseriate to triseriate in the wider portion, 75-100 x 8-10 µm, apical apparatus inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses: Filamentous, hyaline, septate, 2.5-3.5 µm wide, with occasional branches, turning golden-yellow in Melzer's reagent, slightly projecting above asci.
Ascospores: Cylindrical to fusiform, hyaline, thin-walled, 1- to 3-septate at maturity, 18-25 x 3-5.5 µm, bearing polar setulae/appendages that tend to detach, containing small oil droplets.
Herbarium voucher: JTP1937/23.
