Melanoleuca melaleuca
(Pers.) Murrill

Study description
Species typical of forest clearings or roadsides, with a convex to flattened pileus 4–9 cm across, brown, white lamellae, a light brown stipe with white longitudinal fibrils, a farinaceous odour, and a sweet taste.
Cuticle (pileipellis) formed by cylindrical, irregularly interwoven hyphae 4–8 µm wide, with abundant brown intracellular pigment, some emergent ends with rounded apices, septate and with simple septa without clamp connections.
Cheilocystidia very scarce, virtually absent; the few present are fusiform to lageniform, measuring 40–55 µm long by 6–12 µm wide.
Basidia clavate, 25–35 µm long by 7–9 µm wide, with a simple base, generally 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, hyaline, thin-walled and minutely verrucose, measuring 7.5–9.5 µm long by 4.5–6 µm wide, with an inconspicuous eccentric hyaline apiculus at one end, containing oil droplets inside, amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
