Melanoleuca cognata
(Fr.) Konrad & Maubl.

Study description
General: Inhabiting montane pastures and forest edges, pileus convex-flattened with a central umbo, up to 5 cm diam., ochre to dark brown, lamellae distinctive ochre-apricot to pale brownish, stipe enlarged at base with white fibrils over a pale brown ground.
Pileipellis: Cutis of slender hyphae 3-4 µm wide with pale brown intracellular pigment, simple septa.
Cheilocystidia & Pleurocystidia: Fusiform to lageniform, 45-60 x 8-12 µm, occasionally septate, generally crowned with apical crystals.
Lamellar trama: Regular.
Basidia: Clavate, 25-30 x 8-10 µm, base simple, predominantly 4-spored.
Spores: Ellipsoid, hyaline, finely verruculose, 7.5-10 x 4.5-6 µm, with an inconspicuous eccentric apiculus, amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
