Mallocybe subdecurrens
(Ellis & Everh.) Matheny & Esteve-Rav.

Study description
Formerly known as Inocybe subdecurrens, with subdecurrent to decurrent gills, lacking caulocystidia and pleurocystidia, and with thin-walled cheilocystidia.
Pileipellis composed of parallelly arranged hyphae, 5-12 µm wide, with abundant yellowish-brown encrusting intracellular pigment, septate with clamped septa.
Caulocystidia absent, though at the very stipe apex near the gill attachment a few hyphoid, cylindrical terminal elements with rounded apices may occur.
Cheilocystidia very numerous, subcylindrical, clavate to pyriform, 25-45 µm long and 15-25 µm wide, thin-walled, with clamped bases.
Basidia clavate, 25-40 µm long and 8-11 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal to oblong, smooth- and thick-walled, pale brown under the microscope, with an almost imperceptible apiculus at one end and faint internal oil droplets.
