Study description
General: Associated with conifers, pileus greyish-brown and umbonate, context blackening upon handling, farinaceous odor and taste.
Pileipellis: Cutis composed of filamentous hyphae 4-6 µm wide, arranged parallel to slightly interwoven, containing greyish-brown intracellular pigment, septate with clamp connections.
Lamellar edge: Fertile, homomorphic (lacking differentiated cystidia).
Basidia: Clavate, 29-38 x 7-9 µm, containing siderophilous granules, with basal clamp connections, 4-spored.
Spores: Ellipsoid to fusiform, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, pointed at the apicular end, some with a faint suprahilar depression, 8-10 x 4-5 µm, guttulate, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
