Study description
General: Inhabiting broadleaved forests on calcareous soils, exoperidium forming a delicate white floccose-woolly veil that sloughs off in patches, exposing a pinkish-brown endoperidium.
Exoperidium: Composed of abundant sphaerocysts, subglobose to pyriform, 20-40 µm in diameter, mixed with filamentous hyphae 3-5 µm wide.
Endoperidium: Formed by filamentous, sinuous, moderately thick-walled hyphae 3-7 µm wide, hyaline to faintly yellowish, without visible septa.
Capillitium: Thick-walled, brown under the microscope, 3-6 µm wide, branched, aseptate.
Basidia: Not observed; literature describes them as clavate, 7-10 x 4-6 µm, 4-spored.
Spores: Globose, thick-walled and verrucose, 4-6 µm in diameter, warts up to 0.8 µm high, pale brown under the microscope, with a hyaline apiculus and a large oil guttule.
