Lycoperdon lividum
Pers.

Study description
General: Small puffball (up to 2 cm) with a very short stipe/subgleba, exoperidium covered with minute scurfy granules or scales that slough off leaving the endoperidium smooth.
Exoperidium: Sphaerocyst-like structure composed of subglobose to pyriform cells 15-35 µm in diameter.
Endoperidium: Hyphae filamentous, moderately thick-walled, 2-5 µm wide, branched, aseptate.
Capillitium: Thick-walled, 2-5 µm wide, brown, branched, with minute circular pores across its surface.
Basidia: Not observed in this study; literature describes them as clavate, 8-10 x 7-8 µm, with 1 to 3 sterigmata.
Spores: Globose, thick-walled, very delicately verruculose, pale brown, 3.5-4.5 µm in diameter, with a hyaline apiculus, containing oil droplets.
