Lophiostoma macrostomum
(Tode) Ces. & De Not.

Study description
Substrate: Saprotrophic on various decaying woody substrates, producing blackish globose to oval ascomata 0.2-0.5 mm in diameter.
Asci: Cylindric-clavate, spores generally biseriate, 90-120 x 13-16 µm, base simple without croziers, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Hamethecium: Composed of interascal pseudoparaphyses: filiform, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, septate, richly branched, only 1.5-2.5 µm wide.
Ascospores: Fusiform, with a distinct median transverse septum dividing the spore into two cells, markedly constricted at the septum, containing 1-2 large guttules in each cell, surrounded by a faint gelatinous sheath visible especially at the poles.
Herbarium voucher: JTP1936/23.
