Leccinum holopus
(Rostk.) Watling

Study description
General: Associated with birch (Betula), with a smooth to very finely velvety pileus, white flesh unchanging upon cutting, and a sweet, mild taste.
Pileipellis: Composed of slightly interwoven hyphae 4-7 µm wide, with yellowish intracellular pigment, terminal emergent cells rounded, septate without clamp connections.
Cheilocystidia & Pleurocystidia: Fusiform, hyaline, easily collapsing, 38-53 x 7-9 µm.
Basidia: Clavate, 25-32 x 11-14 µm, clampless, 4-spored.
Spores: Cylindrical to fusiform, smooth, thick-walled, yellowish-brown under the microscope, with a prominent eccentric apiculus and multiple lipid droplets (guttules).
Herbarium voucher: JTP2610/25.
