Lasiosphaeria ovina
(Pers.) Ces. & De Not.

Study description
Substrate: Decaying decorticated wood of deciduous trees.
Ascomata: Perithecia superficial, spherical to ovoid, 0.5-1 mm in diameter, black, densely covered with a white to greyish-white cottony tomentum that turns brownish with age.
Tomentum hairs: Hyaline to pale brown, septate, thick-walled, branched.
Asci: Cylindrical, long-stipitate, 8-spored, biseriate to triseriate, 170-230 x 15-22 µm, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent, apical ring refractive and congophilic.
Paraphyses: Filiform, multiseptate, constricted at septa.
Spores: Cylindrical, geniculate to sigmoid (hooked or curved at one or both ends), smooth, hyaline, multiguttulate, 40-55 x 4-5.5 µm.
Herbarium voucher: JTP2509/25.
