Benkert

Study description
Ecology: Bryophilous, associated with mosses of the genus Aloina on basic or calcareous soils.
Ascomata: Apothecial, sessile, discoid, 3-8 mm diam., bright orange.
Asci: Cylindrical, 8-spored, uniseriate, 250-440 x 20-28 µm, inamyloid.
Paraphyses: Filiform, apex clavate, containing orange carotenoid pigment turning green in Melzer's reagent.
Spores: Subglobose to globose, 16-20 x 14-18 µm, containing a large lipid droplet, ornamented with a prominent complete to incomplete reticulum of ridges up to 1 µm high forming 5-8 meshes across the diameter.
Herbarium voucher: JTP2725/26.
