Lactarius hepaticus
Plowr.

Study description
General: Associated with conifers with a strong preference for acidic soils, white latex turning yellow within minutes, and an acrid, bitter taste.
Pileipellis: Composed of filamentous, irregularly interwoven hyphae 3-11 µm wide, septate with simple septa.
Cheilocystidia: Numerous, fusiform, 22-42 x 4-6 µm.
Pleurocystidia: Scattered, similar in shape but larger, 50-75 x 5-8 µm.
Basidia: Clavate, slightly ventricose, 40-50 x 9-11 µm, base simple, predominantly 4-spored.
Spores: Subspherical to ellipsoid, with ridges up to 1 µm high connected together without forming a complete reticulum, with a distinct hyaline apiculus, amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
