Lactarius atlanticus
Bon

Study description
General: Associated with Quercus, especially holm oak (Quercus ilex), fruiting in late autumn or early winter, with white latex and a slightly bitter taste.
Pileipellis: Composed of densely packed, non-gelatinized hyphae; suprapellis of thin filamentous hyphae 3-7 µm wide; subpellis composed of broader, short-celled, sphaerocyte-like hyphae 15-25 µm wide, both containing abundant brown intracellular pigment.
Cystidia: Not observed in this study; literature reports them as scarce, fusiform to lanceolate, 40-65 x 6-10 µm.
Basidia: Clavate, 40-50 x 9-11 µm, base simple, 4-spored.
Spores: Subglobose to ellipsoid, ornamented with numerous warts up to 0.8 µm high connected into ridges that form an incomplete reticulum, with a prominent hyaline apiculus, amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
