(Pers.) Donk

Microscopía de Lachnella villosa

Study description

Substrate: Developing on dead fallen twigs as well as herbaceous stems.

Basidiomata: Cyphelloid, disc-shaped, 0.2-1.2 mm in diameter, with a pure white hymenium and hairy margin.

Hyphal system: Monomitic; generative hyphae hyaline, septate, 2-4 µm wide, with clamp connections.

Marginal hairs: Cylindrical, hyaline, thick-walled, up to 110 µm long, up to 7 µm wide, apex rounded, surface completely encrusted with calcium oxalate crystals.

Cystidia: Absent.

Basidia: Clavate, 35-50 x 8-12 µm, with basal clamp connections, 4-spored.

Spores: Not observed in this collection; literature describes them as subglobose to amygdaliform, asymmetric, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, 7-12 x 5-8 µm, with faint granular contents, inamyloid in Melzer's.

Notes: Closely resembles Lachnella alboviolascens, but differs in having a pure white hymenium, smaller basidiomata, and smaller spores.

Herbarium voucher: JTP2425/25.
