Irpex latemarginatus
(Durieu & Mont.) C.C.Chen & Sheng H.Wu

Study description
Hardwood species, collected here under Alnus and Populus, with white, resupinate basidiomes, 1–3 angular pores per mm tending to become irpicoid-lacerate, tubes up to 7 mm long, soft context, and easily separable from the substrate.
Monomitic hyphal system, composed exclusively of hyaline, thin-walled generative hyphae 3–8 µm wide, septate with simple septa.
Cystidia not observed; reported in literature as rare and difficult to locate (Ryvarden describes them as cylindrical-clavate, 20–28 µm long by 4.5–7 µm wide, basal-septate and apically encrusted).
Basidia clavate, 16–20 µm long by 5–8 µm wide, simple-based, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, measuring 5–7 µm long by 3–4 µm wide, with a lateral apiculus at one end, faint granular contents inside, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
