A small lignicolous ascomycete, yellowish-brown, up to 7 mm in diameter, growing caespitously and fasciculately.
Medullary excipulum composed of hyaline, filamentous, thin-walled hyphae, densely compacted and chaotically interwoven, 2-3.5 µm wide.
Ectal excipulum composed of subglobose to polygonal, thick-walled hyphae up to 12 µm wide, with abundant yellowish-brown intracellular pigment.
Asci cylindric-clavate, 8-spored, with biseriate to slightly irregular spore arrangement occupying almost the entire ascus, 40-50 µm long and 4-5 µm wide, with basal croziers, inamyloid in Melzer's or Lugol's solution.
Paraphyses filiform, smooth, hyaline, simple, unbranched, up to 2.5 µm wide, projecting very slightly above the asci.
