Inocybe tigrina
R.Heim

Study description
A species with a tigrine-scaly cap whose surface disrupts into scales, large fusiform cheilocystidia, and caulocystidia present only on the upper stipe.
Pileipellis composed of parallel filamentous hyphae: a thin upper layer 4-11 µm wide with abundant brownish-ochraceous intracellular pigment; underlain by broader hyphae with short septa, septate and clamped.
Caulocystidia present only on the upper third of the stipe, cylindrical to slightly sinuous, with basal clamps.
Cheilocystidia cylindrical to fusiform, 40-75 µm long and 12-20 µm wide, with hyaline apical incrustations, wall thickness up to 3 µm.
Pleurocystidia of similar morphology, 40-80 µm long and 10-19 µm wide, likewise with apical crystallizations.
Basidia clavate, 25-32 µm long and 7-11 µm wide, with basal clamps, mostly 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal to amygdaliform, thick-walled and smooth, with an inconspicuous eccentric apiculus at one end and internal oil or lipid guttules.
Herbarium material available: 2034/24.
