Study description
A species typical of calcareous soils, associated with parks, deciduous or mixed woods, with a brown cap having a paler margin, radial fibrils, and caulocystidia extending to mid-stipe.
Pileipellis hyphae filamentous, arranged more or less parallelly, with brownish-ochraceous encrusting intracellular pigment, 3-10 µm wide, septate and clamped.
Caulocystidia present especially on the upper half of the stipe, predominantly clavate.
Cheilocystidia fusiform to lageniform, 40-70 µm long and 13-20 µm wide, with walls up to 2.5 µm thick, bearing abundant apical crystallizations, intermixed with shorter clavate to pyriform cells.
Pleurocystidia of similar morphology, 50-75 µm long and 12-17 µm wide, with walls up to 3 µm thick.
Basidia clavate, 22-27 µm long and 7-10 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal to slightly amygdaliform, smooth- and thick-walled, yellowish-brown under the microscope, with a minute eccentric apiculus at one end and internal oil droplets.
