Inocybe melanopus
D.E.Stuntz

Study description
A species associated predominantly with pine forests, with caulocystidia restricted to the upper stipe and thin-walled cylindrical cheilocystidia.
Pileipellis composed of filamentous hyphae, parallelly arranged to slightly interwoven, 4-12 µm wide, with abundant brown intracellular pigment, septate with coarse clamp connections.
Caulocystidia present only on the upper stipe.
Cheilocystidia cylindrical, slightly ventricose, walls only up to 1.5 µm thick, 45-60 µm long and 12-20 µm wide, with apical crystallizations.
Pleurocystidia scattered, very similar in morphology and dimensions to cheilocystidia.
Basidia clavate, 24-28 µm long and 7-9 µm wide, with basal clamps, generally 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal to slightly amygdaliform, smooth, thick-walled, light brown under the microscope, with an inconspicuous eccentric apiculus at one end and faint granular internal content.
